Budapest:

Saturday and Sunday 24-25 April we visited Budapest by train, from the Westbahnhof, before 8:

arriving in Budapest 10:50, fetched in a luxury Mercedes limousine and ``ferried'' to one of the finest hotels in the world: Hotel Four Seasons Gresham Palace.

We stayed there for 24 hours ! Our 5th floor room with ``french balcony''

overlooked the Roosevelt Square, the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, the Chain Bridge from the 1849s, the Danube, Castle Hill, the Fischer Bastei, the Cathedral, etc.

We strolled down Vaci utca over to Restaurant Gerloszy in street of same name.

Really: we had a lovely, long lingering lunch, the whole works2. Back to the Hotel Dines visited his favourite music store in Budapest: Rózsavölgyi Zenebolt (Deak Ferenc square) and we had coffee, and a dobos torte, at Gerbaud:

While preparing our luxury weekend in Budapest Dines had contacted the Szeredis, the Bachs and the Dömölkis. In the end (Hedy Bach was in hospital) we only met the Dömölkis. And before we arrived in Budapest Balint had contacted Prof. László Kozma, dean of the Eötvös Loránd University, Faculty of Informatics - and László had invited Dines to give two weeks of PhD lectures this fall in Budapest, ``all paid'', see proposed course page. We all met for lunch, on a lovely, warm Sunday noon, at the well-known Restaurant Náncsi Néni Vendéglöje up in the Buda hills.
