See Annex B for address list. 2 Agenda for meeting -- N174 The draft agenda (N160, 4) for the meeting was approved. 3 Drafting committee WG17 decided that a drafting committee was not required for this meeting. Jonathan Hodgson agreed to serve as secretary. 4 Minutes of the Chiswick meeting (WG17 N163 ) The minutes of the Chiswick meeting were approved. 5. Reports from National bodies. The report from the Portuguese national body (N181) was noted and would be taken up in conjunction with the relevant topics. A report form Germany was received (N182) too late to be acknowledged at the meeting. Mats Carlsson reported that Sweden, no longer being a member of SC22 would be unable to officially contribute. 6. Discussion of Roger Scowen's documents (N171,N173) on DCG's. WG17 reached agreement on a proposed course of action: Resolution's A 1. and A 2. 7. Discussion of the Japanese contribution on globals. (N172) WG17 agreed (resolution A 3) to ask Japan to rework their proposal in the light of the comments at the meeting. In particular it was requested that the following issues a). Backtrackable assignable objects, b) Non-backtrackable assignable objects, and c). globals. be addressed separately. 8. Discussion of the future of WG17. It was agreed to proceed by adding small parts to the standard rather than larger pieces. The colocation of this WG17 meeting with ICLP is seen as a success and such colocation should continue. The possibility of a workshop on standardization at the next ICLP should be explored. (Resolution A 6) In the light of this encouraging trend Roger Scowen agreed to prepare a corrigendum to part 1 of the standard. (Resolution A 4). Jan Wielemaker agreed to prepare a draft document on library access (Resolution A5) . Jonathan Hodgson shared with WG17 the concerns of SC22, particularly the C, C++ and Cobol groups on the slow progress of the revision of the IEEE floating point standard. Jonathan Hodgson will convey to SC22 WG17's desire to support the other SC22 subgroups in this matter. 9. The meeting adjourned at 5:00pm Resolutions. A 1. WG17 adopts the following timetable for producing a Type 2 TR towards part 3 of ISO/IEC 13211 Prolog. December 1st 2005 WD,Close of Email comments Feb 1st 2006, PDTR ready for ballot March 1st 2006. WG17 appoints Paulo Moura as project editor for ISO/IEC 13211- 3 Prolog Grammar rules and asks that he submit a first draft based on the comments at this meeting by December 1st 2005. A 3. WG17 asks Japan to submit by December 1st 2005 a modified proposal for global variables and arrays taking into account the comments at the meeting of WG17 in Sitges. Individuals: Unanimous.
