bugfix: when host=i486-linux-gnu, configure added option -m486 to the GCC
command line.  That option is long deprecated and does not work with newer GCC
version (not with 4.3.3).
Now try march=-i486, -m486, (none) in that order, for which one works.
Also changed GCC options for 586 and later:
- Also try to add -mtune=generic
- when falling back to -m486, try if that works, and else fall back to (none)

Make dynamic superinstructions work for MIPS by defining a
architecture-specific test macro CHECK_PRIM() that return whether a memory
region might contain non-relocatable code.  On MIPS that check is implementad
as a simple comparison against a blacklist of problematic opcodes.

if no working skip-code is found (i.e. when cross-compiling), use asm(""), not
((void)0).  (void)0 wreaks havoc with gcc-4.3.3, making almost all primitives
non-relocatable.

cross compiling fix #2: disable AC_TRY_RUN() check for 'skipcode' when cross-compiling.

cross compilation fix #1: do not use AC_CHECK_FILE() to check for source
files.  AC_CHECK_FILE() checks for any files in the host filesystem and is not

Reorganized configuration: configure is now created by autoconf from
configure.in; I still left it in the CVS repository because not
everyone has autoconf. decstation.h renamed to mips.h and apollo68k to
m68k. Added general 32bit.h description, which the other machine
descriptions use. Created/copied replacement files install-sh memcmp.c
memmove.c select.c (carved out from ecvt.c) strtol.c
strtoul.c. Bytesex is now handled by configure.

Deciding the threading method is now done in machine.h, this should
also be done for USE_TOS and USE_FTOS.
