MJY's Software Wishlist
Here's some software I'd like to have. If you have a lot of free time, you
might want to write some of it (or, tell me where to find it)!
Index:
- "Webshar" - packages many files/directories constituting a WWW site (or part thereof) into a single CGI script, compressing some of the files (if necessary). The resulting CGI script extracts the files on-the-fly and can be used like this: http://blah.com/script.cgi/some-subdirectory/blah.html. Advanced features: configurability wrt. to use of perl or shell tools for extracting the files, or even PHP3. This thing is useful for people with little space for their homepage and no concern for the provider's CPU load.
- A Linux port to NCD X-Terminals (NCD 19r). Some work has been done on a MIPSR3000 port, but I have no idea where to obtain the necessary documentation for the NCD hardware.
- A printer driver to transparently (to the application) output pages in
various booklet formats, equivalent to putting e.g. a "psnup -2" (under Unix)
in your (PostScript) printing pipe.
