| Abstract | SOS is a library module to integrate SICStus Prolog and the Oracle7 relational database management system. Its primary goal is to be as complete as possible, that is, SOS is at least equivalent in power to any (commercial) front-end to the Oracle. SOS attempts to be well rounded and robust enough for real-world use. Its principle contribution to the field of Prolog/database integration is that it allows use of Prolog streams to represent character data instead of atoms. This makes use of large databases feasible. SOS is a low-level system that exports "cursor" objects to read form open queries. However, it is designed to allow easy footing for higher layers that can mask these objects. This diploma thesis consists of a reference manual for SOS, an examples section, an installation guide, and documentation of SOS`s internals. |
