Gary Smith, chapter coordinator, presented the latest X3/J14 BASIS6, and noted the availibility of Martn Tracy's ZEN FORTH tied to current BASIS documents on GEnie. Gary also distributed GEnie library lists, noted Ilg and Brown's article on Forth Networking in Dr. Dobb's, and discussed the February 17,18,19 SIGFORTH ACM Convention in Austin, TX. CAFIG members Donnal Walter and Donald Long plan to attend, and Donnal has an article in the works on his neural net he plans to submit to ACM SIGFORTH for possible publication. Donnal discussed the neural net he has fashioned in Forth based on the system discussed in 'Parallel Distributed Processing' by Rumelhart and McClelland, MIT Press. He plans to demo the net at our next meeting. Donnal and Bill 'Chappy' Allsopp exchanged node construction ideas and may get together to fabricate a few sample boards. Steve Caine discussed his work in Forth on MIDI systems and some of his synthesizer projects. He is currently using Isis Forth on an Apple //+. He is considering migrating to another system, but wants to stay with a subroutine threaded Forth. JForth on an Amiga was suggested by Gary Smith. Dave Williams, co-SysOp on Twit's End BBS 501-771-0114, spoke to the chapter regarding the board's open policy and offered a section for Forth use only. WE applauded his good taste and judgement, and made some Forth kernels available from the chapter library to get things started. Submitted: January 21, 1988 Gary Smith P. O.
