Monday I get an RTX 2000 development system. ( new topic) <[Dennis] D.RUFFER> give him a try gary! <[Gary] GARY-S> Nick Spies, Larry forsley <[Leonard] NMORGENSTERN> How about Scott Squires on Lucas Film? <[Dennis] D.RUFFER> be back in a moment, calling larry <[Dennis] D.RUFFER> has left. <[Dave] DHWEINSTEIN> How much does Lucas Film use FORTHers (I know they use Alliants a lot). <[Gary] GARY-S> Scott on Magic Light would be great <[Leonard] NMORGENSTERN> Do you get Egghead Software Magazine? <[Leonard] NMORGENSTERN> Nice writeup on Scott there. <[Larry] L.DANIEL1> Which issue? <[Leonard] NMORGENSTERN> I just got it last week. <[Dave] DHWEINSTEIN> Gotta run. <[Dave] DHWEINSTEIN> has left. <[Leonard] NMORGENSTERN> He is setting up a bunch of Mac II's using Unix and Mac Forth. <[Gary] GARY-S> Larry - what's going on in GA ? <[Larry] L.DANIEL1> RAIN and democrats <[Gary] GARY-S> Send the rain - keep the poloticians <[Larry] L.DANIEL1> I get the HARRIS forth chip development system on Monday. I'm excited. <[Leonard] NMORGENSTERN> Must'nt talk about politics, religion, or women. <[Leonard] NMORGENSTERN> Therefore I have nothing to say. is here. <[Gary] GARY-S> Why are you getting the set ? <[Dennis] D.RUFFER> no one home :-( <[Larry] L.DANIEL1> My company is HARRIS's second customer for the chips. <[Larry] L.DANIEL1> We plan on build systems around the chip. <[Gary] GARY-S> are you beta testing or rolling something REAL ? <[Leonard] NMORGENSTERN> How do you mean second? In time, or volume? <[Larry] L.DANIEL1> Time, we only ordered about 7 chips. <[Larry] L.DANIEL1> This is not beta stuff. We (Gerogia Tech) will upgrade our novix designs. <[Gary] GARY-S> That should squeeze down the size of your controllers quite a bit, Larry <[Larry] L.DANIEL1> Yep, now our!Nubus cards will fit in MAC II. <[Gary] GARY-S> do you also Hypercard ? <[Leonard] NMORGENSTERN> What is Nubus? <[Larry] L.DANIEL1> Only for documentation-- NUBUS is bus in MAC II. <[Gary] GARY-S> like a VME bus, Len <[Leonard] NMORGENSTERN> Thanks <[Larry] L.DANIEL1> NUBUS is a magnitude simpler than VME in hardware. <[Gary] GARY-S> it was a RUFF comparison - but I figured he could relate quickly <[Larry] L.DANIEL1> I'll have more info on harris stuff next week. <[Gary] GARY-S> You know what I think would be great ? keep a running log (non-proprietary) of the development <[Larry] L.DANIEL1> BTW, Dr. William Dress appears in Popular Science. He uses Forth&Novix. <[Gary] GARY-S> A lot of systems people would profit from your experiance <[Larry] L.DANIEL1> Ok about LOG. We document the $#%^ out of our stuff. <[Gary] GARY-S> Bill Dress is a verrrry interesting person, but he flat refuses to get on GEnie ! <[Leonard] NMORGENSTERN> I think what Gary means is to write a history... <[Larry] L.DANIEL1> I visted Him at Oakridge a few months ago. <[Leonard] NMORGENSTERN> of the development at some future time. <[Larry] L.DANIEL1> I keep a development diary (required at work) that would suffice. <[Gary] GARY-S> Did you get a demo of his RealOps while there ? <[Larry] L.DANIEL1> RealOps is Laird William's mostly. I saw him too but didn't obtain the stuff. <[Gary] GARY-S> The development library would be interesting Larry - thanks <[Larry] L.DANIEL1> When I stop working 90+ hours, Ill download things. <[Gary] GARY-S> Lazy - worthless...... :-) <[Larry] L.DANIEL1> I'm just not motivated I guess. <[Larry] L.DANIEL1> Forth si so dull sometimes :) <[Leonard] NMORGENSTERN> When you quit working so hard, you can start... <[Leonard] NMORGENSTERN> thinking about motivation. <[Gary] GARY-S> Yeah - and rain is an overated commodity <[Gary] GARY-S> Leonard lapses into philosophy on occassion - he assumes we all think <[Larry] L.DANIEL1> I need to go now.. Nice talkin... bye <[Larry] L.DANIEL1> has left. <[Gary] GARY-S> bye Larry <[Leonard] NMORGENSTERN> What were you going to say about philosphy??? <[Gary] GARY-S> You lapse into it on the assumption the rest of us think <[Gary] GARY-S> Just three sysops - wanna continue ? <[Leonard] NMORGENSTERN> Not unless the rest of you do. <[Dennis] D.RUFFER> would be nice to get a good nites sleep :-) <[Leonard] NMORGENSTERN> Ok. Bye <[Gary] GARY-S> bye <[Leonard] NMORGENSTERN> has left. <[Dennis] D.RUFFER> bye bye === End of Steno notes. ===
