D80. Persistency Component for a Virtual Shared Memory System, (Master's thesis/diploma thesis)

Context

Task Description

One requirement for an Extensible Virtual Shared Memory system is that it supports the reliable storage of objects managed by it. The Persistency Manager Pattern component adds the reliability aspect to the XVSM architecture by providing an interface to persist objects in and recover them from an external storage. The persistency mechanisms are available on XVSM system level for implicit and transactional persistency as well as on application level to give application architects more control of the reliability features. A reference implementation of the Persistency Manager uses relational databases as external storage, but can be replaced easily by other storage implementations. This component is extended by the Persistent Object Pattern to provide grid-based reliability.
