Entwurf und Implementierung einer service-orientierten Software-Architektur durch Integration verschiedener Middleware-Systeme

Diploma Thesis, TU-Vienna, 2005

Abstract

In this Master's thesis the objective is to create a service-oriented software-architecture for distributed applications. The main task is to develop an architecture which supports the integration of different services and components. This shall be accomplished by using different middleware-systems to provide a platform for interaction between services.

As an exemplary scenario, the process of a hotel reservation shall be implemented. In order to perform a successful reservation a reservation- and a hotel-service are needed. The architecture is to provide an appropriate environment for these services. This environment consists of a combination of Enterprise Java Beans (EJB), Java Messaging Service (JMS) and Corso. The application logic shall be encapsulated in the EJB while Corso and JMS are responsible for service coordination and data exchange. As an additional condition, the architecture should work as a preparation tool for integrating high-performance components for the development of semantic web services.

With the implementation of the requirements, the following questions shall be answered. How costly is the integration of different middleware-systems? Which restrictions arise; which additional benefits are gained?

At the end of this thesis the results will be analysed and the gained benefits will be compared to the drawbacks.
