Research Project Coordination
2012-2014
The project "Coordination Middleware for Wireless Networks of Low Power Nodes" (LOPONODE) investigates robust and re-usable middleware components for secure communication between low-power nodes, connected by wireless networks. Partners: EBE Solutions, ABC Consulting and Ankerl-IT. Funding: FFG Bridge project.
2012-2013
The project "Low Power Nodes - Proof-of-Concept" (LOPONODE) investigates uses cases in the rail traffic domain based on robust and re-usable middleware components for secure communication between low-power nodes, connected by wireless networks. Industrial Partner: ÖBB.
2010-2013
The project "Middleware Technologies to Reduce Complexity for Agile Logistics" (AgiLog) deals with the issues of software development in the logistics domain. The problem is that software developers have to deal with a high number of complex software concepts and need to integrate these into one stable system. AgiLog researches upon how to measure this cognitive complexity and to define means how to reduce this complexity. Partners: pcsysteme, and Xcoordination. Funding: FFG Bridge-2 project.
2010-2012
The aim of the project "A Secure Space for Collaborative Security Services" (Secure Space) is to develop a software platform for the secure communication and collaboration of autonomous participants across enterprise boundaries in the Internet and to prove its usability by means of applications from the security domain. The collaboration is carried out by providing all participants shared data structures that they can access concurrently in a safe way. Partners: underground_8, and Xcoordination. Funding: FFG FIT-IT Trust in IT Systems.
2010-2012
The aim of the project "Robust And Distributed Safety-Improved Traffic Telematics" (Roadsafe) is to improve the robustness of Vehicle-to-Infrastructure (V2I) telematics systems and to demonstrate these improvements by on-the-road tests. The service infrastructure must be able to cope with a large number of clients which are quickly moving between the road side units (RSU). The user interfaces in the cars need to warn the drivers of possible dangers without distracting them from driving. Partners: ASFINAG, Fluidtime, ftw, KAPSCH TrafficCom, and TU Wien Institut für Nachrichtentechnik und Hochfrequenzztechnik E389. Funding: FFG COMET K1.
2008-2009
The objectives of the project Real-time, Safety-related Traffic Telematics (Realsafe) is the development of scalable P2P infrastructures and services for the road traffic domain. In particular, the o/offline mode of passing by cars must be considered and solved by means of disruption tolerant mechanisms like replication in P2P networks. A scalable routing in P2P network under the assumption of only a few seconds connectivity if cars are passing by a road side unit must be provided. Partners: ASFINAG Salzburg, ftw, KAPSCH TrafficCom, and TU Wien Institut für Nachrichtentechnik und Hochfrequenzztechnik E389. Funding: FFG COMET K1.
2006-2007
The objectives of the project "System-wide Information Distribution System" (SWIS) are the implementation of an information sharing network in mission critical environments, i.e. the air traffic domain (ATM). Different heterogeneous sources (radar etc.) must be integrated. The usage of semantic technologies is applied based a model driven approach from which the network is automatically generated. Partners: FREQUENTIS, Austro Control AG, and TU Wien IFS. Funding: FFG.
2006-2009
The visionary approach of the project "Triple Space Communication" (TripCom) is based on the insight that Web Services do not follow the Web paradigm of 'persistently publish and read'. In this way TripCom brings machine-to-machine Web Service communication to the Web in its real sense: 'Web' Services. Moreover, Triple Space computing follows the same goals for the Semantic Web services as the Web for humans: re-define and expand the current communication paradigm. Partners: Univ. Inssbruck, Univ. Stuttgart, Free Univ. Berlin, telefonica Spain, Ontotex, Profium, and Cefriel. Funding: European Commission, 6th Framework Programme.
2005-2007
The aim of the project "Triple Space Computing" (TSC) project was to develop Triple Space Computing as communication and coordination framework for Semantic Web and Semantic Web Services. Partners: Univ. Innsbruck, EWS, and TDE. Funding: Austrian Federal Ministry for Transport, FFG, FIT-IT Semantic Systems.
1996-1999
ESPRIT IV Multi Media Pilot Project entitled "A Virtual Hypermedia Factory" (VHF), with cooperation partners from 4 countries (including industry, academy, and users): Austria: Graphische Sammlung Albertina, and Architekturstiftung Österreich. France: Maison des Sciences de l'Homme, and INALCO-CERPEM. Greece: Intrasoft, First Informatics, Travel Plan, and University of Patras. Italy: Olivetti Ricerca, Soprintendenza Archeologica di Napoli e Caserta, Liguori Editore, Associazione degli Albergatori Napoletani, and Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche.
