Short Bio.

Graduated engineer of computer sciences (Dipl. Ing.), Ph.D. (Dr. techn.) and Venia Docendi (Univ. Doz.) from the University of Technology, Vienna. Heinz-Zemanek research award for Ph.D. work on "Multi Database Systems". Kurt-Gödel Research Grant from the Austrian Government for a sabbatical at the Indiana Center for Databases at Purdue University, Indiana, USA. International publications in the areas of multi-database integration, heterogeneous transaction processing, parallel and distributed programming, coordination languages, and space based computing. Current teaching topics: distributed programming and coordination tools. Conference chair, program committee member and local arrangement coordinator of international conferences, member of the governing board of the Austrian and European UNIX systems user group, member of the ISO working group for the standardization of Prolog, project coordinator of nationally (FWF, FFG, AT industry) and internationally (EU Commission) funded research projects. International patents for research work on a new "coordination system". 7 years experience as CTO (chief technological officer) of an Austrian TU Spin-Off company. Member of the Senate of the Christian Doppler Forschungsgesellschaft. Member of the Science and Research Council of the Federal State of Salzburg.
