To: All That Glitters -- Brevan , Elhmo , Junior , Michael Wright , Prometheus , Taufee , Te-rasti , Torgan , Watcher Message-Id: Mime-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: TEXT/PLAIN; charset=US-ASCII Status: OR Torgan reaches forward to pull out the rod, Junior screams and runs down the corridor, Brevan reaches out to grab Junior, Prometheus, Taufee and Te-rasti stare slack eyed, and Elhmo watches on with interest at the gem in the centre of the rod... It doesn't take Brevan much effort to catch Junior, as J. is smaller and less nimble than the big man. However, both are now out of the room and looking further down the corridor. The passage continues down for about 40 feet before becoming a flight of stairs that leads up, apparently only a short way. Torgan gives the rod a firm yank. The rod breaks off its connections to the floor and ceiling easily, and the soft white light is immediately extinguished. Fortunately you still have your torch left, which is running quite low at the moment. Torgan manages to retrieve the gem that was in the center of the rod and looks at it briefly before putting it in his pocket. You are all a little disappointed that the light has gone out here, and now look to where you are. Since Junior and Brevan are both a short way down the south passage, you decide to join them. For light you have 8 torches and 3 bottles of lamp oil and a lantern between you all. You have enough food for probably another 2 days, but only enough water to last you for about half a day. There seem to be no other inhabitants in this area. On closer inspection you find that the stairs in the south passage go up for 20 feet, then end in a landing which seems from this angle to go off to the east... I think I got at least 20 - 25 posts for this turn!] Junior walks runs after Torgan, seeing him walk off before the argument is finished. He picks Torgan straight up off the ground as if Torgan were a child! The situation is quite a funny one to behold. Torgan is far from laughing however, as Junior begins to spank him. That finished, Junior seems to think that the matter is settled. Junior does, of course, forcibly take the gem from Torgan and keeps it in his hand for the moment. Due to the diplomatic difficulties within the party at the moment, Torgan goes off to investigate the northern corridor along with Taufee, Te-rasti and Prometheus. Brevan, Elhmo and Junior check out the rest of the southern passage. Upon returning to the round room you relate your discoveries. Both corridors travel for about 40 feet and end in a staircase, which leads up for about 20 feet. Both corridors then turn to the east (left hand turn from the southern passage, right hand turn from the northern passage). Both passages turn slightly toward each other and end very quickly in large doors similar to the ones seen before in this area. Listening at the door reveals nothing at the southern door, but the sound of rushing wind can be heard from the opposite side of the north door. Quite a strange thing to hear due to the fact that you are well below ground level! The map. We still have about 4 months to play, and it's possible that we could just scrape through as we are going, but at best it would be very close. The stench of death and decay greets you as you open the door. Slumped in one corner of the hexagonal room is a hunched figure clutching a chunk of silvery metal in its skeletal hand. Its legs lie at a grotesque angle, obviously broken. From beneath the figure comes the shine of more silver. Near the skeleton you can see that part of the cirle has been dug out. The door that you came out of was in the south west wall of this hexagonal room. What should be the north wall of the room is actually an opening into a passage, about 30 feet wide. The room itself is about 40 feet from opposing corners. [Vanck told you that the other 'giants' came through here a few _years_ ago, not months. Sorry for the confusion] Junior picks up the metallic blue liquid vial and gives it a small swig. Before your eyes, he fades from view and becomes completely invisible! There's probably enough in this vial for another 4 or 5 doses. The now invisible Junior picks up the Incense burner and Vials of powder and stows them away, presumably in his invisible backpack. Torgan picks up the Short sword and dagger and looks at them with interest. He also takes the bag of gems with great gratitude. Te-rasti takes the thieves tools, in case they may become handy. Brevan takes what remains, the rope, 4 iron spikes, small hammer and the 2 sacks (which are empty). Deciding to check the 'windy' room, you all trudge up there and tie a rope to the unwilling volunteer, Prometheus. Entering the room, Prometheus sees that it is similar to the southern room, but the circle and triangle in the ground are unharmed. The walls of the room are of polished rock. The sound of the wind comes from the large opening in the south of the room which leads to a similar passage to the one in the southern area, although the air in the room itself is quite still. There is a small metal bowl with a light brown, crescent shaped base inside the circle. Spilt next to it are several pieces of dark granular material. You go over to inspect the passage through the 20' opening in the room. A howling wind from the east roars down this corridor, sweeping back your hair and causing your clothes to flap wildly. Automatically you brace yourselves against the force of the wind but, to your surprise, it exerts little more force than a mild summer breeze. After adjusting to this strange phenomenon you notice that the tunnel is straight and level and stretches as far as you can see in either direction. You notice that the passage does not seem as wide as it did from viewing it from the room. Looking back into the room from the passage, you also notice that the room and its opening is about half the size you remember it to be... [Of course you will investigate this strange occurence] You determine that objects, but not people, look half as big when viewed from this corridor. This phemonenon was not noticed in the southern passage. The stuff on the ground near the metal bowl looks like incense. To: All That Glitters -- Brevan , Elhmo , Junior , Michael Wright , Prometheus , Taufee , Te-rasti , Torgan , Watcher Message-Id: Mime-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: TEXT/PLAIN; charset=US-ASCII Status: OR The situation is slightly tense, as some of you run, some of you attack, some of you try to light the incense, and some of you pray... Taufee takes out the bowl and the incense that she gained back in the room that adjoined this passage. She lights the incense and the smoke lazily drifts around the tunnel, being dragged away slightly by the wind in the passage. The smoke curls around quite a bit, and smells nice, but can't give a concrete outline of anything. Junior takes out his metallic dust, and pours it onto the bowl. The dust is very fine and some of it carries in the air. Before you realise, Junior has gotten some of it upon himself and is now visible! You look around for the creature that is circling you. Sure enough, there is a vague outline of a creature. The dust seems to have done its job in that you can see where the creature is, but you still can't make out exactly what shape it takes. Brevan slashes out with his sword, and it bites into the creature deeply (8 points damage). "So, this creature can taste steel!" Brevan cries out in triumph. Prometheus similarly takes a swipe at the creature, but is unlucky and misses his target. The creature attempts to blast Prometheus now with a vacuum, but doesn't get close enough. Another close miss. Torgan is a little way down the corridor, still running... Elhmo seems to be concentrating not only on what is at hand now but on something else... Te-rasti seems to be thinking about what spells would be most useful in this situation.
