On the signal, Junior downs the potion of invisibility and fades from view. The door is opened, and you see briefly into the next room. This octagonal room is dominated by a stone statue of a large piranha headed man, shrouded with serpentine forms. A ghastly stench wafts in from the room, as several figures shuffle into the doorway. Without any hesitation, Brevan lets off the arrow in his bow and catches one of the figures in the chest. It falls instantly to the blow, and the next of its kind is quick to move over it. It however, manages to catch the rope that you set up on the passageway and falls over it. Elhmo's spear catches the loathsome thing through the head as it falls down. The skull of the creature is pierced with a sickening sound and you realise just now what you are up against. The other 4 ghouls move in to attack you, their claws raking at the air before you. N.B. There is only enough room for one person to fight in the passageway. At the moment, that person is Junior (still invisible). Junior can attempt to get into the room, at which point the frontmost person would then be Elhmo. It _is_ possible for someone else to reach the front, but this would take a round and leave the current front person vulnerable to attack for that round. The front person would also have to forfeit his/her turn... Michael. "As for this lunatic, for our own safety, I suggest we tie him up. This madness could be an act meant to trick us into turning our backs (although a pretty convincing act), but even if he's just a simple lunatic, having him at our backs could be as dangerous as ghouls. Who knows what a twisted mind might think to do? After we've found whatever is here to find, if we feel charitable we could try to take him back to civilization where his madness can be treated, or we could just untie him and leave him to his fate." Knowing that the head comes off the statue, Brevan looks at the relative positions of the statue and the receptacle - does the head swing down into it, or maybe would the whole statue, if it rolled or tipped over, fit into the hole? If not, is there anything on the ceiling that might drop into the hole? After examining the statue, Brevan digs out ropes to tie up the madman, then goes to grab the guy to tie him up. -Vince From wright@insane.apana.org.au Mon Aug 15 14:34:49 1994 Received: (wright@localhost) by insane.apana.org.au (8.6.9/8.6.4) id UAA21672; Mon, 15 Aug 1994 20:46:25 +1000 From: Michael Wright Message-Id: <199408151046.UAA21672@insane.apana.org.au> Subject: ATG : Turn 116 To: alex (Alex), vjg@cbcosmos.att.com (Brevan), gt6441c@prism.gatech.edu (Elhmo), jcarl@jabba.ess.harris.com (Junior), sinari@snakemail.hut.fi (Taufee), IO01108@MAINE.maine.edu (Te-rasti), guedos@mr.insa-tlse.fr (Torgan), wright@insane.apana.org.au (Michael Wright) Date: Mon, 15 Aug 1994 20:46:23 +1000 (EST) X-Mailer: ELM [version 2.4 PL23] Content-Type: text Content-Length: 987 Status: OR Junior watches the madman carefully as Brevan brings out a length of rope. After spending about half and hour at this while you rest he digs away at some of the mortar in the north wall (the blank one behind the statue) and cries out, "Hey! I think I've found something!" The stones in the wall are irregular and leave deep grooves where mortar must have once been. Sticking out of a gap between two stones is a small lever. There's 15 feet of floor on either side of the mosaic that you can walk around. This takes you past the alcoves in the walls though (i.e. the alcoves are 15 feet away from the mosaic. > Taufee: "Did anyone take some of that water from the previous place with > us?
