ANZAC stands for Australian and New Zealand Army Corps. The ANZACs first fought in the battle of Gallipoli (Turkey) in WWI. Due to a bungle by army intelligence (I believe it was British intelligence), the ANZACs were not landed at the safe beach that was planned. Instead, they were landed on a fully defended beach, surrounded by cliffs and machine gunners. The ANZACs had to cross the beach under machine gun fire and climb the cliffs, all the while fighting off the Turks to gain enough ground to form some trenches in which to base their next stage of assault. Needless to say it was pretty much a massacre. However a few soldiers did make it through and gave the enemy hell for a few weeks until army intelligence finally decided that it was time to pull out. In order to evacuate without being overrun, it was necessary for a few men to stay behind and keep up gunfire to make it seem as if the army was still all there. I can't remember if any of those men who stayed behind survived or not. By now you're probably wondering why we should be so proud of a sound complete military defeat. Well, it's not viewed in that light. The traditional Australian ideal is that of the fighter, the working class man who will do anything for a mate. Gallipoli was the first chance that Australia had to 'prove' itself to the rest of the world, and even though we didn't win that battle, we showed the rest of the world just what Australians are made of. Of course these days the ideals that the ANZACs lived by are becoming less valued. However we still remember the sacrifice that all Australian soldiers, from all conflicts (WWI, WWII, Korea, Vietnam, etc) made to keep Australia the country that it is today. Veterans and families of soldiers gather around monuments and memorials to pay tribute to the fallen, as well as the survivors. The ANZAC day march in Melbourne alone numbers over 18,000 and is up on last year (because next of kin are marching more these days). 160,000 ANZACs fought in WWI. Michael Wright. The thing is getting very close to falling apart, and you all press in for the finishing blow. The skeleton suddenly whirls around in a wide sweep, trying to knock you all aside with its mighty sword. You have no choice but to back off from the wide arc, or lose your life. One thing that the creature did not count on however, was the difference in height between several of the members of your band. Tafuee's hands glow with energy that passes through Juniors damaged body. The energy is returning life to the poor battered body (7 points). Junior is noticeably better at the end of the prayer. Meanwhile, Brevan and Torgan are inspecting the skeletal remains of your opponent. The sword and armor that the creature wore is indeed valuable, and very old. The armors value lies more in its antiquity than its usefulness, as it would afford little protection considering its age and condition. The sword is a similar affair, ornately crafted and obvious of excellent workmanship, but aged and rusting. It is a two-handed sword. Elhmo inspects the candlesticks and the altar that they lie on. The candlesticks are again old and possibly valuable historically, but are otherwise unremarkable. The cloth covers a plain stone altar that is featureless. Junior and Te-rasti turn their attention to the blank wall behind the altar. Each of them run their hands intimately over the surface of the wall, looking for a crack or lever to open up a secret passageway. With a grin, Te-rasti digs his heel into a small recess near a corner of the wall. The wall silently slides on well oiled hinges to show a small, empty room beyond. There appear to be no other exits from this room beyond. It doesn't take long however, to find the opening to the far wall of the small room. The secret door opens into a T intersection. Passageways run North, East and West of the secret rooms exit. The East and West passages both curve South, possibly heading back to some of the doors in the main prayer room that you fought in. The North passage ends in 3 doors (1 per wall). Michael. P.S. I will work on a map if that is convenient for people. You can't see the other end of the room. It's possible that there's a door at the other side. Bows will probably not be a very good idea. You have 3 flasks of oil in total between all of the party members. One flask will coat the top part of the stairs, while 2 flasks will cover pretty much everything that you can see. An Unseen Servant _could_ be used to pick up these snakes, but would not be able to get them all before they reached the top of the stairs (even worse when you consider that you'll have to pull out a sack too). I guess Elhmo will hold the long end of the rope, if possible, along with the spear while he cast 'invisibility' on himself. This is really up to the DM though. Jon
